The 'mid-century modern' 3 bedroom beach house was built in 1967, one of the original holiday homes in Venus Bay. It is one of a handful of iconic Victorian mid-century coastal beach houses left, and has been thoughtfully restored to retain its authenticity and architectural integrity. The house sits on the secondary dune system nestled amongst coastal tea trees, and encircled by the Bay's unique natural environment of ocean shoreline, giant dunes, saltmarsh wetland, and river inlet. The home invites simple pleasure; a comfortable relaxing place to be with nature.
This is the home of artist and facilitator of EcOArt residency, Donna Wright, and is offered to other creatives during periods when she is working on her art practice in other locations. The home is fully furnished and self-contained, with all its amenities available to visitors (food not included). You will stay here as if it is your own.
Venus Bay is a very sensitive ecological environment with an ancient history of Indigenous lifeways, evidenced by an abundance of middens and ancient artifacts of the area's First Peoples, the Bunurong/BoonWurrung.
The current residents of Venus Bay live lightly on the land too: rain water tanks supply fresh water and septic systems protect the water tables beneath. Like the home, thoughtfulness and care is necessary to ensure we live sustainably in this very precious environment.
